Requirements to enter pets into Argentina

REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER PETS INTO ARGENTINA

(DOGS AND CATS ONLY)
A U.S. INTERSTATE INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE OF GOOD HEALTH EXAMINATION FOR SMALL ANIMALS, (APHIS FORM 7001). THIS FORM IS AVAILABLE AT YOUR LOCAL VETERINARIAN´S OFFICE OR DIRECTLY FROM YOUR OWN STATE U.S.D.A OFFICE. PLEASE INCLUDE CERTIFICATE OF RABIES FOR PETS THAT ARE 3 MONTHS OLD OR OLDER. RABIES SHOTS SHOULD BE GIVEN 30 DAYS BEFORE ARRIVAL TO ARGENTINA, AND BE NO MORE THAN A YEAR SINCE LAST SHOT.
FORM NEEDS TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
-NAME AND LAST NAME OF OWNER AND HOME ADDRESS
-PETS DATE OF BIRTH, SEX, SIZE, COLOR, BREED, WEIGHT.
-COUNTRY OF ORIGIN, DESTINATION
THIS FORM NEEDS THE SIGNATURE OF A VETERINARIAN FROM THE U.S.D.A. (UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE). THIS PROCEDURE MUST BE DONE WITHIN 10 DAYS BEFORE DEPARTURE. WHEN THE PET IS NOT YET 3 MONTHS OLD, OR WHEN THE PET COMES FROM A COUNTRY WHERE RABIES SHOTS ARE NOT ALLOWED, SANITARY AUTHORITIES MUST NOTE IT ON THE CERTIFICATE.
CONSULAR LEGALIZATION IS NOT NEEDED.
Note: When your pet is not a dog or a cat, you need to contact the Argentine Health Authorities (SENASA) in Buenos Aires directly and ask about your specific kind of pet. The telephone number for SENASA is: +54-11-4345-4112/4110
-If the animal entering Argentina is not a pet, (if it is being sold to someone there), the person waiting in Argentina needs to apply for an Import Permit at:
“DIRECCION DE CUARENTENA ANIMAL”
