Option for Argentine nationality

Option for Argentine nationality for children under 18

ORIGINAL or Certified copy of the birth certificate of the Argentine father or mother ("Certificado de Nacimiento” is not accepted).

b) Birth certificate in ORIGINAL of the applicant, who must have the Apostille of the Hague issued by the Authority corresponding to the place of birth. (To obtain the Apostille, you must contact the Secretary of State of the place of birth).

c) Copy of the National Identity Document (DNI) of the father and mother of the applicant. If someone is from another nationality, copy the foreign passport. All documentation must be valid.

d) A prepaid envelope with tracking number, that leaves this Consulate to your address.

e) Fees:
- Birth Certificate Registration: $40 per 25 lines or fraction.
- Argentina Nationality Option Act: $40 40 per 25 lines or fraction.

Important:
The name of both parents must match exactly, both in the Birth Certificate
of the minor, as in their respective birth certificates and DNI. Otherwise, the process cannot be started.

When the birth took place in another consular district, the documentation submitted will be sent to the corresponding Consulate, who will then send the Certificate of Registration to this Consulate to continue with the process of Option for Argentine Nationality.

For the purpose of initiating the process, copies of the mentioned DNI will be accepted, and the originals must be presented at the time of the appointment with the Consular Officer. The date of the appointment must be present the minor and both parents.

We cannot start the process without all the requirements.

PROCEDURE: Once this process is done, the documents will be sent to the Argentine Republic for the issue of a DNI. Once the DNI card is received, the Argentine Passport can be issue.

Option for Argentine nationality for people 18+ years
